Volunteer Instructions

Book check-in. Remember to watch the screen for any error messages.
Book Shelving. White spine label has the necessary information.
F [chapter books] go on the top two shelves, alphabetized by the first three letters of the authors last name.
E [everybody picture books] go on the bottom three shelves, also alphabetized by author.
– Numbered spines — Go in the non-fiction room, organized by number and secondly by first three letters of author’s last name, if necessary.
– Paperbacks – Designated as F PB. These are in the non-fiction room on the paperback carousals, also alphabetically. Shelves are marked with blue letters to facilitate organization.
Books designated – 92 and 920 – go in the biography section on the right wall.
Shelving Exceptions.
I will try to pull these books and put them on the bottom shelf of the shelving cart.
Disney and Dr. Seuss books are on the back wall of the library near the reading area.
Fiction series books are scattered throughout the low shelves in the library.
Parent books are near the door, marked with a blue sticker (fiction) or yellow sticker (non-fiction).
Non-Fiction series are on the unit nearest the door to the computer lab.
Soft-cover books (large format paperbacks). Fiction is on the middle shelving unit in the main library room. Non-fiction is in the non-fiction room below the windows.
Volunteer In-Box. One time projects that need completed. Directions are usually attached.
Cleaning. Paper towels and cleaning spray are located under the microwave. Tables always need cleaning, then book shelves.
Shelf Reading. Looking at the shelves carefully to make sure that all books are in their proper place. Books should be pulled out to the edge of the shelf and shelf ends should be cleaned.
