CYRM

Meadows Library participates in the state wide voting for the California Young Reader Medal Award (CYRM).  The CYRM is one of the few major awards where the winner is picked by children.

We read the picture books as read-alouds in the library.  Younger readers are treated to A Frog Thing, Millie Waits for the Mail, Do Unto Otters, Velma Gratch & the Way Cool Butterfly, and My Life as a Chicken.  With older students, I will read Armando and the Blue Tarp School, Owney:  the Mail Pouch Pooch, and Willie & Max:  A Holocaust Story.

We will vote in the library once we have completed the readings.  Our students enjoy seeing how their picks line up with the other children from across the state.

Independent readers can also participate in the intermediate chapter book category.  These students will read, on their own, A Crooked Kind of Perfect, No Talking, and A Friendship for Today.
